A well-funded, next-generation engineering firm is building an AI-powered platform to automate structural and MEP design. They are backed by leading investors including Khosla Ventures, Valor Equity Partners, and Tishman Speyer, and have raised $17M in Series A funding. They’re looking for a Fire Protection Engineer to join their growing team.
The role will focus on designing fire protection systems for buildings while helping shape the future of engineering through AI-powered design automation. You’d work closely with software engineers and structural and MEP experts to improve traditionally manual engineering workflows.
The work will include:
Designing fire protection systems, including sprinkler layouts, fire suppression systems, and related life-safety requirements.
Developing engineering drawings, performing calculations, and ensuring compliance with applicable building and fire codes.
Coordinating with architects, contractors, and other MEP disciplines to ensure effective system integration.
Contributing engineering expertise to help automate traditionally manual design workflows.
Taking ownership of projects in a small, fast-moving engineering team.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Approximately 4–8 years of relevant fire protection engineering experience.
Experience with building fire protection design, ideally including sprinkler systems and plumbing/fire protection coordination.
NYC-based.
Data center or mission-critical experience is a plus, but not required.
